Independence Day Giveaway

I am going about my monthly giveaway a little differently this time: As July 4th is speedily approaching, I wanted to give plenty of time for the recipient to receive this one in the mail before the big day. Just leave me a comment why YOU think YOU should be necklaced "Miss Independent 2009".

And it's not just for Americans, (think "Girl Power"! circa 1990's). I don't care what nationality you are. This is for ALL the girls out there...you too, my fellow stay-at-home-Moms! Dig deep - I know you have it in you.

On Friday, June 26th, I will choose a winner. Meanwhile, I am taking a little vacation time this week. See you Friday!

Another beautiful deisign!!!
This is an easy one...As a stay at home mom and wife of the traveling man, I spend my time and money on my kids and family. By choosing to stay at home to do this (what I feel is the most important job), I rarely have the extra money to spend on goodies like this for myself. Why does this make me independant?? because in the world today I think so many moms would rather follow their neighbors working hard for the big houses, diamonds vacations etc. These are the things I give up to raise my kiddos myself with the values I think are important!!! Thanks for a chance to win this wonderful design! Have a great vacation!!! :) KIM

I independently taught myself how to balloon twist. Other than that I'm really quite dependent. I depend on my husband to pay our bills and keep us in our home. I depend on my kids to laugh at my jokes. I depend on my sisters to be there when I need them. I depend on my friends to accept me despite my quirkiness. Maybe you need to make me a necklace labeled "Miss Dependent" and give this necklace to Toots!
P.S. Regarding your Spice Girl photo, Charlie just asked if that used to be Angela (the one in the bottom in the red). I replied, "Maybe".

My Mom raised me to be very independent. I can't tell you how many times I heard "you can be a nuclear physicist if you want to, or a neurosurgeon" when I was growing up. And yet, all 4 of her daughters, myself included, have chosen to be wives and mothers. That doesn't mean I don't have an inner Spice Girl. I just save her for the special occasions. Like when the kids are all fighting and a dance party is the only thing that will clear the air. Then I bust out those '80s and '90s dance moves and save the day. Man would I look good wearing that necklace and strutting my stuff. I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want . . .

Like Tula, I don't think I've won anything in my life ;)! (insert snif, snif here)

I am SOO independent that I can stay at home for days not needing any adult interaction. I am SOO independent that I don't need any girlfriends to go out with to alleviate my feminine melancholy. I am SOO independent that I can go shopping at a mall all by myself and not feel awkward.

OK, so maybe I need a Miss Pathetic necklace. ah well! Happy 4th! (ps -- I miss your daily posts)

independence is having the courage to stand up for something you want, or believe in. I think you little miss deserves the necklace. It's beautiful. I don't know her, but it seems to fit.

I was going to enter but I thought it over and I'm not really independent, I require a team. I think your winner was the best choice. My girls want paintings and I sometimes think it's strange that I send them all away. I think I might have to get to work for their birthday suprizes. Thanks for the idea.
PS can't wait for our Mexico/Frida adventure, makes me giddy.
